Congress liars

The CONgress has again proved to us why they have been ruling this country for the past so many decades. The party has learned the art of deception and staying in power. They played to the galleries, passing time till midnight. Each and every act was well planned and choreographed. And whatever heaps abuses may have been thrown on Rajdeep Sardesai, he tried to pull a thing on the party by revealing what was about to happen.
The entire drama also brought out one more thing. That ass of a leader who controls the House was busy trying to book his place to Rashtrapati Bhawan. Such people should be booted out and shown their faced. How can he hold a constitutional position? Where are his loyalties....towards a family or the nation?

PS : On the CONgress' real character and tendency, Ram Jethmalani's quote sums it all up "power corrupts and prospects of losing power corrupt absolutely."

Katju shut up

The PCI chairman Markandey Katju says that Dev Anand's demise should not have been carried on page one of newspapers. Does anyone need his advise on this issue? Is he justifying and taking on the media just for the heck of it?
It seems so.
The former Supreme Court judge, whose family has an illustrious background, needs to understand that Dev Anand was a legend of his field. And anyone and everyone adored him. The former judge needs to express some restraint as such statements will only diminish his credibility. He can not decide what a newspaper will put on its page one. Despite him being the PCI chairman. He should keep his nose out of this business as it seems he is hinting at precensorship of news. Just like a UPA cabinet minister Kapil Sibal.

Censor Sibal

The person who has a foot in mouth disease is preaching restraint to the social networking sites. The IT minister apparently wants to censor the social media sites like Facebook, Orkut, Youtube and the likes.
This is another attempt by the government to tighten the noose on any sort of information being exchanged by the citizens. And may be a planned conspiracy to get even with these sites who had played a vital role in gathering the masses in favour of the recent Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev movements.
The government is mad and wants someone to pay. Mr Sibal hopes that he will be able to push out country back to the emergency period.

Indian Censor Board is a loser

The Indian government always had faulty priorities was a known fact but this was amply seen at the recent release of Rockstar, the Hindi movie. The Central Board fort Film Certification, which I don't why is still operational in our democratic setup is out of touch with realities.
The Censor board decided to blur the Free Tibet banners being used in the film but forgot to erase the middle finger, used again and again in the movie. Not that I am against the use of the middle finger. Certainly it seemed a bit more offensive than the pro Tibetan banners and flags.
The moral policing of this nation has to stop. There is no way that anyone can justify the erasing of Free Tibet from an Indian film screen. What are we afraid of? Why are we too politically correct? Why do we care for Chinese priorities?
The government needs to sort its policies out pretty soon.

Katju's pain

So. Whats with Press Council Chairman Justice Markandeya Katju's?
He believes that all scribes are intellectually challenged. He would know as he comes from such illustrious background.

Here is what wikipedia lists as his acheivements: Justice Katju is the son of late Justice S.N.Katju, formerly a Judge of the Allahabad High Court. His grandfather Dr.Kailash Nath Katju, was one of India's leading lawyers and participated in the country's freedom movement. Dr. K. N. Katju was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, the Governor of West Bengal and Orissa, as well as the Union Law, Home and Defence Minister.Justice Katju's uncle, Justice B.N.Katju, was the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

The fact of the matter is that Katju was blessed by birth. While 99.99 percent of all scribes aren't. There may be an exception like Khushwant Singh who is also in an illustrious company like Katju. But we should remember that he is an EXCEPTION.
By painting the scribes in India with one brush, Katju has forced me to also point out that all Supreme Court and High Court judges are of illustrious and well connected backgrounds. And I may add that the present Chief Justice of India SH Kapadia is an EXCEPTION as far as higher judiciary in this country is concerned.

Shivani Bhatnagar case

We have a foolish legal and justice delivery system. Even if I accept that the courts are right and RK Sharma is not guilty of murdering Shivani Bhatnagar, with the courts please tell us what amount of compensation will be paid to Sharma.
If he has not taken any part in the murder why was he confined for these many years in judicial custody. Doesn't he deserve to be reinstated on the Indian Police Service cadre. And what about the judge, investigative officer and other who falsely implicated him. Shouldn't they be punished?
This is a fit case study how the law can be manipulated in this country. One day a person is convicted and a decade later he is set free. Maybe it has been done to check on the public memory of my countrymen.
This is a ridiculous turn to a case which needed to be investigated and prosecuted much better. There are already several people who have gone scot free in the case. Being dead and all.

Bomb blast aftermath

There is a need to understand one thing that the Indian law enforcement agencies are not equipped to handle the prevailing terror situation in the world. They can not stop the attacks on our country which will continue to happen.
The point here is that each and every Indian citizen needs to be vigilant. It is the only mechanism through which we can foil any attempts against us. We have to understand that all the high tech resources with our security apparatus are utilised for the security of our political classes. There aren't any left for the masses. So the only thing left is to watch our own backs to thwart any such bomb attacks in the future.

Indians deserve better

Each and every US citizen is as well protected as their President Barack Obama. Why doesn't each and every Indian get protected as our Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi or her son, the future PM of our unfortunate land, Rahul G.
The Congress has been utterly shameless and they have again proved that the country doesn't need them. The blast was totally avoidable. If the US can do it so can we. Why can't we be more vigilant? We should indulge in racial profiling like them....at least it will help ensure that we aren't allowing our countrymen to die like this.

Anna won.... really?

Everyone is saying and promoting the passing of a mere resolution in Parliament as a victory for Anna Hazare and his team. However, this is not the case.
To put it simply it means that the government can and will go back on its word. It has not given any commitment to fulfil whatever the resolution has promised. The government has not given up and is in no mood to give up.
In fact, the agitation has done something which the Indians will have to dread and bear for a long time to come. It has unwittingly and unknowingly united the political and ruling classes against the masses of the country. There is no way that they will give up their establishment so easily. We will need to pay for this.

Anna is not India

Not everyone is supporting Anna Hazare. We may be frustrated with everyday corruption and bribe demanding by the establishment but still I can not and will not support the way this so called revolution is unravelling.
The government is an ass for helping him get so much credibility. The way Anna is now trying to dictate terms and conditions to the government is pathetic and pitiful both for the Congress-led government and the nation as a whole.
The agitators cannot tell me that unless I support their ongoing protests I am not a true Indian. I do not need their or anyone else's certificate.
This is essentially an caste Hindu, middle class and urban population agitation that has an uncanny resemblance to the Mandal agitation. Those participating in such agitations should remember just one thing that they are destroying the credibility of not only a few democratic institutions but also the Indian democracy.

Sibal shows power

Despite calls by Kapil Sibal and his colleagues in the cabinet that Anna's supporters should hold the protests peacefully, the HRD Minister's supporters themselves resorted to violence.
The students, belonging to Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia University, were beaten up by goons from Chandni Chown as they raised slogans against the government and Kapil Sibal.
Several of them, from the All India Student's Association, also raised black flags and posters just as Sibal got up to speak. Organisers of the event were taken by surprise as the protesters, numbering about a dozen odd were seated in the middle of the Mavalankar auditorium,
got up on their seats and started raising slogans calling for introduction of a Jan Lokpal Bill.
The sloganeering led to inflamed tempres as supporters of the HRD Minister also countered the protesters by shouting slogans praising the government and Sibal.
The protest by AISA students' led to a fight between Sibal supporters and students. With numbers in their favour, Sibal supporters were able to expel from the seminar venue after a brief scuffle. It was only after the expulsion of this group that Sibal was able to speak.
Though the seminar addressed by him today was marred by violence, the Minister called on the students to protest peacefully. Another farce exposed.

Anna in Tihar

Who the hell is devising such crappy political strategies for the Congress. Fisrt you put Anna Hazare in jail and then release him the very same day.
What is the Congress doing. Is the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi being missed? Has the party lost its ruling ways? It seems that the party is either confused or hell bent on burning its own house down. First they provide credibility to people like Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev by indulging them and later they are thrown out like a chusa hua aam ki guthli.
It now seems that the government has caved into the pressure tactics being applied by the Team Anna and will give more than what they deserve.
The fiascos of the past few days notwithstanding, the country can still be brought onto the right path. The need here is to evolve a right policy to deal with such situations.

Anna Vs Government

The problem with the UPA government is that first it promotes people like Anna Hazare and Ramdev by sending its senior ministers to pay obeisance to them and later tries to run these very people.
Why does the government offer them a dose of credibility by including them in committees and indulging them in long talks with its ministers. Then later these people are termed as anti democratic. What is this farce.
If the government feels that these people are anti democratic they should be crushed and should not have indulged them. But the matter now seems to be out of hand for the government as it tries to hold on to power and put up a brave face to what seems to be a showdown. The message is clear though that Anna's movement too will be crushed like Ramdev's.

Sonia's foren treated illness

Indian doctors and hospitals are only good enough for desis. Foren items can not be taken in there for treatment. This seems to be true as far as the case of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi goes.
Double standards of the party stand exposed as Sonia Gandhi Maino goes under the surgeon's knife in a US hospital. Are the hospitals in India not good enough to treat her.
Why are such doctors and hospitals being forced on the people of this country if they are not good for the Congress' first lady. We are sub standard human beings or is she better than us all. This country cannot be treated this way. Time that someone stood up and asked these uncomfortable questions.

M F Hussain gets felicitated

The painter who left this country for a foreign shore is being felicitated by the government after his death. M F Hussain, who disowned India was today given respect by none other than Parliament of our country. Why?
Why are we still trying to claim him as one of our own when he so disrespectfully left for foreign shores? The dead artist should not and does not deserve any respect from our country. He had left the country of his own will. And then disowned it by accepting the citizenship of some other country.
The political class is full of shit and needs to understand that we are well off without people who will rather not call themselves Indian though they were given so much adulation during their lifetime. There are fanatics in each and every country. Even Norway, like we saw recently. But is doesn't require us to disown our country. In fact, it requires us to take on such fanatics and make your point of view known.

Why the fuss on NOTW investigation in UK?

I can not understand why the Indian media is going mad over coverage of the New of The World scandal. It is not as if that they haven't seen it before and haven't DONE it before.
The holier than thou attitude of the Indian media is shameful. Why are they doing a live coverage of the event.... because it is related to Rupert Murdoch or that they can't still get out of the imperali hangover.
The Indian media has also been involved in such a scandal. And mind you not even a single finger was raised. I know reporters and television channels who have hired private investigators to crack the personal e mail accounts of the victim, relatives, friends and family members in the Arushi Talwar murder case.
I know of police officers, who have confided in me, stating that they were appalled to see how the media was reacting to the incident. They almost destroyed the evidence at the crime scene. Fingerprints of several reporters had contaminated the crime scene. But no one in our country has the balls to book these crooks without ethics. If we can not book our crooks we can't blame others. Somewhat similar to the case when Darkha Butt tries to put corrupt politicians in the dock.
I know of a newspaper which claims to be rather courageous.... changing stance in the Arushi case. Just like the CBI directors. But that is another issue to be dealt with some other time.

Amul can't stop attacks Baba

Rahul Baba says that the government and police machinery cannot stop all terrorist attacks. How true. As if we needed to learn this from this moronic icon of youth being propped up by the Congress.
The government cannot stop such attacks as it does not have the will to save the common man. The aam aadmi doesn't have any respect in the eyes of the party which claims to represent it. There is nowhere in the world that the country's citizens are treated with so much disrespect. The way the moronic middle aged icon has uttered these words has ensured that people of the country come to know of his intellectual standards.
Unless each and every life of this country is treated with as much respect as Rahul Gandhi's or for that matter Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's we will never get out of this rut. The government has to fund for our security if it is using so much of taxpayers money for the VVIP security. The terrorists will continue to target our cities and we will be waiting as to who will become the target in the next terror strike.

Another day another serial blast in Mumbai

Combine an inefficient and unprofessional police establishment and a political class without a strong will. What do you get?
Room for serial blasts. And that too repeatedly. This is high time that we started treating the lives of our citizens with the proper respect they deserve. We need to develop and evolve a strong will to thwart such attacks. Develop a professional police force. Not a force that heads off to Azamgarh and Jamia to pick up a few boys to solve the case. The same also happened in the Malegaon blasts. Just to make it clear that I do not have a religious agenda.
I do not think or know of any serial blast or terrorist attack case that has been investigated and proved beyod doubt. In most of these cases the investigations are found wanting. The courts end up sentencing the accused on the basis of shoddy investigations and evidence. The scientific temperament in missing in our police forces. Time to roll out the police reform bandwagon.

Sing your anthem

I was very sad to note that only a handful of Manmohan Singh cabinet were singing the national anthem during the swearing in ceremony. Why can't our elected representatives feel proud and sing it publicly. And what's with our Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and our beloved President Pratibhatai Patil. Aren't these leaders supposed to feel proud at leading our nation.
The only exception is Home Minister P Chidambaram. He was the only minister that could be seen singing it proudly. Hope that other politicians and elected representatives learn from him.

Cabinet expansion

Another cabinet expansion of the Manmohan Singh government is scheduled for tomorrow. This expansion too is expected to be much like MMS. Uninspiring and stale.
Why is there a need for this expansion? I do not think that this expansion will have any effect on the government on which the Prime Minister doesn't have any control.
A person who blames the misdeeds of his cabinet colleague and not taking action on it on coalition dharma doesn't need to be the Prime Minister of this country. He may change a hundred ministers but we all know from where the power is being remote controlled. So stop this expansion farce and save the tax payers some money.

Amul Baby at it again

The Congress' middle aged young yuvaraj is at it again. The Amul Baby was seen at Bhatta Parsaul again today. He seems to have enjoyed the rural environs there as he reportedly also took a nap during the farce pad yatra.
Today he was seen busy seeing the other way while shaking the hands of people. And his lack of focus while talking to people is moronic. There is no other word to describe it.
The campaign by Amul Baby will again prove to be a failure and will be gauged from the performance of the party in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls which are less than a year away. He will again prove to be a disaster just like like earlier performances in Bihar, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The yuvaraj should try and get some lessons in focus and political aptitude. I really hope that he improves in all possible ways before being thrust upon this nation as a Prime Minister.

Who killed Dilshan?

So finally it has been proven without doubt that 13-year-old Dilshan was killed by a bullet. Unless that bullet was fired by his teenaged friends who had accompanied him to get some almonds from the army compound it could have been fired by a security personnel.
It is no rocket science to establish as to who fired the bullet. There is a need to do a ballistic test on the bullet and the determine which bore was used. Was it a restricted one or a civilian one.
But the issue here is not this. The issue is to rein in the armed forces. They are not a law unto themselves.
We are still bearing the burden of our imperial past as the Indian armed forces continue to hold fort in major civilian areas and cities. A legacy of the British times when the Royal Indian Army was their way to continue their rule in our country.
With our nation being a democracy it should do away with maintaining huge army cantonments in major cities. And any arguments in favour of maintaining them inside highly populated civilian areas is still stuck in the British past.
There is an urgent need to remove the armed forces from the civilian areas. Though the Indian army is a professional organisation and there is virtually no threat of a take over bid but there is an urgent need to remove them from civilian areas. This will be beneficial for the armed forces and the Indian democracy as well.

Manmohan's Bangladesh prem

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh apparently believes, or has been made to believe, that over 25 percent of Bangladeshis are anti-Indian as they are associated with Jamaat-e-Islami and hence with the dreaded Pakistani intelligence agency the ISI.
This is the most irresponsible statement ever being made by an executive head of the state. Ever worse than George W Bush's several remarks. This statement has created so much, and has the potential to create more, and would also help India baiters in that country. This despite the fact that India played a pivotal role in getting the country independent. Our relations going sour with Bangladesh is the worst ever management of bilateral relations between the country which could have looked up to us for almost everything.
And as far as his bureaucrats go he has a team of dumb asses patrolling the PMO. Who cannot even upload the correct file on the PMO website. Virtually jeopardising the relations between the two countries.
These officials do not care in which direction our nation in headed. And they do not care if the Prime Minister is made to look like a fool. How can the government allow such officials to continue. Is it that India doesn't take its relationship with Bangladesh seriously? Or are these officials above India?
It would be good for MMS if he goes ahead and fires a few officials. It will definitely help him in shedding the weakest PM tag.

Nation humiliated not martrys

The nation was humiliated not martyrs. The decision of transporting the bodies of policemen killed in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh on a garbage truck of the local municipality has laid bare the fact that we do not treat out security men with respect. After getting them killed the least that we could do was to let them have their last rites with dignity.
The policemen in Naxal infested jungles of Central India are already facing an uphill battle. They are always low of rations, supplies, weapons, men, transport and everything that one could imagine. This is no way to treat people who would put their lives on the line for our middle classes in cities.
The day these men are brought back from the front line the Maoist menace is surely going to reach the cities. And this is how we treat our forces. The least that the Raman Singh government could do was to provide adequate transport facilities for the bodies. But it seems that the Chief Minister is busy signing MoUs with power companies to make his state the acclaimed power hub that he wants it to be.
There is no strategy, at the Central or the state level, to deal with the Naxal violence. Our security men are getting killed almost each day. The headcount is worse than Kashmir or Punjab at its peak. But we don't seem to care. This attitude will not help the national cause.
The fight against Maoists cannot be won by organising debates in air conditioned studios and offices of the national capital Delhi. Or for that matter by heaping abuses on the alleged Naxal sympathisers.
The fight against the anti national elements will be a hand to hand combat. And we need the political will to sustain it for years and take on heavy casualties. We have to learn from Sri Lanka. And yes there is no other way than sending in the army.

Arnab goes for a toss

See the Times Now interview of J Jayalalithaa being aired this evening. It is a perfect example of how an interview is not to be conducted.
The Tamil Nadu chief minister put questions in the mouth of Arnab Klark Kent Goswami. Yeah you head me right. The self proclaimed great journalist was at the receiving end of a firing line. The chief minister refused to answer any question according to the interviewers demand. She goes on to highlight her agenda completely overshadowing the person interviewing her.
The interview has again proved that Indian political journalists cannot question their political masters. they just cannot.

Congress chor hai

Gali gali me shor hai Congress saali chor hai......
So. This is the new take of the government which claims to be for the aam aadmi. Manmohan Singh-led UPA government is the worst ever government that has ever ruled this country. Juts let me know how the latest move to raise the prices of diesel, LPG cylinders and kerosene is going to help the aam aadmi.
This is a party of crooks who are only bothered about filling their own pockets. I don't think they deserve to be re elected ever again. This is no way to rule. Won't this latest step lead to added inflationary pressure on the aam aadmi? Even a child will tell you that this is bad economics.
The country's aren't ruled like this. They just can't continue to pickpocket and loot the aam aadmi. There has to be a stop to this madness.

PS-- I just hope that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi doesn't flow crocodile tears and elicit a partial roll back of these hiked prices. When will our countrymen wake up.

Diggy fool

What's up with Digvijay Singh? I don't think even he knows. The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has a view on everything under the sky and isn't afraid to express it. But how does the Congress party feel after these utterances.... like a fool it seems.
The person who had pushed his state to the brink of financial and administrative meltdown has been selected to be the political guru of our Amul Baby. Serves him right as his family lineage is also not known to keep high company and associate with people who like to work for the upliftment of the country.
Nut it is rather shocking to see that Diggy has been rising amongst the ranks and holding higher sway when it comes to getting work done. Or for that matter influencing policies and government decisions.
Lets see is our country too headed for the same fate that Diggy's parental state has already been through.

Jokepal

So the final draft of the proposed Lokpal Bill has been exchanged between the government and the civil society representatives.
The government seems to have made a mockery of the proposed ombudsman. It has proposed that the office of Prime Minister, higher judiciary (both supreme court and high courts) and our respected members of Parliament be kept out of its purview. Making the proposed bill entirely redundant.
There is a need for a strong system of checks and balances. And this is not it. The demand for a strong Lokpal needs to continue if this nations needs to rid itself of the scourge of corruption. The system of control of money in a few hands needs to be ended. Now.

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Jokepal Bill

This is hilarious. It is no more the Lokpal Bill but has become a Jokepal Bill.
The government is joking with the people of the country. It is not serious on the important issue of tackling corruption.
I am not a supporter of Anna Hazare, but I am opposed to corruption. So I hope that the government does this sincerely. Unlike the Ramdev episode.

Shoe on Janardan

There was an attempt to use a show against Congress leader Janardan Dwivedi today. An utter rubbish this attempt and earlier ones too that aim to lay discredit on such official functions.
This is not the right way to vent your frustrations. This way such people will make the working of journalists almost impossible in this country.
Moreover, the selection of target, place and the attempt were all feeble. This is not the way to go about it. Such things require meticulous planning. Remember the Iraqi journalist who hurled his shoes like missiles against the then most powerful man in the world, US President George W Bush.
Indians aren't adept at such things and should avoid getting into such attacks. And such attempts should be for a national cause not just for any one community or a religious figure.
No Ramdev or religion is over this country. And it should stay that way.

Where is Amul Baby?

The fasting Baba Ramdev has been forcibly removed from the Ramlila ground. And lathis were used and so was tear gas and by some accounts people were dragged and beaten. It was in no way a human treatment of peaceful protesters.
A democracy doesn't attack its own citizens at midnight. People protesting peacefully, on empty stomachs for the entire day, were evicted from the maidan. It is time that the Congress Yuvaraj, the Amul Baby in his 40s comes and takes up the cause of the people beaten up by his goons. Can't he see the people being beaten up by the police now..... the way he saw in Uttar Pradesh's Bhatta Parsaul villages.
He should drop this garb of being close to the aam aadmi. He is no where close to the aam aadmi. He is a yuvaraj. And a bad one at that.... who is unfortunately destined to lead this country someday.

Liars all

The Baba Ramdev incident has proven once and for all that everyone practicing the act of politics and its supporters, including the Delhi Police, are liars. Left, Right and Centre all of them are lying.
No one who is in power or wants to come in power cares a wee bit about the common man.
The entire incident from the start was a big farce. Why did the government sent its four ministers to talk to Ramdev?
Why did the government take so long to take action against the protesters? The UPA government is the biggest liar of them all. There is no way that the incident could have been handled better. Lets see if the break up this fast pays well to the Congress or not.
It has definitely done one thing.... now the entire opposition stands united. I do not know who has be giving the fantastic political suggestions to Sonia G and Amul Baby.....

Pakistan journalists and guns

The saying goes that it can only happen in India........ but our neighbour Pakistan seems to have bettered us. As if the prevailing gun culture wasn't enough the Pakistani government has gone ahead and allowed its scribes to carry guns for self-defence. The government there certainly seems to believe that the sword is mightier than the pen.
All this shit has happened because of an out of control law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The ISI has become a government unto itself killing journalists for unveiling its dirty tricks. Syed Saleem Shahzad has been allegedly killed to silence any such criticism. This may be the last cahnce for the so called fourth pillar of democracy for redeeming itself.

Road names

In our country a lot of significance is attached to names, the location of a premises and its effects on the person or the institution. The conspiracy theorists working overtime in India's political circles state that this cultural belief is clearly evident in the fortunes of two of the most important political parties in the country, namely the Congress and the BJP.
These political parties are headquarters at two important roads in the national capital, with both these roads named after a great ruler from a different era in the nation's history. The Congress, which heads the ruling coalition, has its headquarters at Akbar Road, named after the greatest Muslim ruler of the medieval era. The political pundits are quick to point out that in national
politics the Congress seems to have evolved and established itself as an inheritor of the secular credentials as a political outfit. Much like Akbar was termed after he introduced the Din-e-elahi faith and conducted an exhaustive discussion on matters of faith with other religions. This despite the fact that both Congress and Akbar were, at some point of time during their rule,
blamed for excesses against minority communities.
These political theorists are also quick to add that the main Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party has its headquarters at Ashoka Road. The name of the road being derived from the one of the greatest Hindu rulers that the country has seen (Ashoka only became Buddhist after gaining control and establishing his kingdom).
The party's Hindu nationalist outlook on things is being blamed on this association. The name's association is also being seen as one which has affected the party's fortunes as it has been able to squander its superior position it had till a few years ago and becoming a weak party without a
proper planning for future.

PM under Lokpal

Why shouldn't the PM be under the ambit of Lokpal? The office should be under its purview so as to prevent any Prime Minister from turning corrupt.
In fact, the provisions should also include booking of the incumbent PM if he had turned a blind eye to an ongoing scam. Like what happened in the case of 2G payoffs and Mamohan Singh's inefficient leadership.....despite his so called clean image and the letter to A Raja, the prosn solely being blamed for the 2G mess.
No one is above the law and the corrupt should be booked. They cannot take shield behind a high office.

Another goof-up by Home Ministry

India's Home Ministry, headed by the most egoistic minister P Chidambaram, has once again proved that it is the most incompetent ministry in the country. And maybe in the world.
It is done it again. The Ministry's most wanted terror suspect number 24 - Feroz Rashid Khan has been traced to Mumbai's Arthur road jail.
This despite the fact that Chidambaram's department, with an able IAS officer GK Pillai at its head, naming the wanted person as being in Pakistan. This goof-up comes at the cost of the nation as a similar mistake has been detected by The Times of India just days ago. Shame on the people who are running this country as a joke. They should all resign and let us have some good leaders at the helm.

Mama supports Amul Baby

Sonia Gandhiji, the matriarch of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, has jumped in the ongoing war between Amul Baby Rahul and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.
The legend of selflessness has given support to the facts presented by 70-feet mound seeker Rahulji. She also claimed that her son was making all the correct statements....I am not quoting any so as not to misquote any of the two.
Trying to win Assembly polls, scheduled to be held next year in the state, is the only thing that is seeming on the mind of the mother-son duo. Without even considering what amount of problems can be caused by such irresponsible claims and allegations. I hope that the middle aged young political mind really gets to learn something out of this as he is scheduled to lead this country some day.

PS- The UP government has in its analysis of ash mounds found no evidence of human remains. The announcement was made by UP chief secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh this evening. Maybe the Central government should get these ash mounds examined by its own forensic labs to find what the yuvraj claims to have seen.

India's most wanted fiasco

The Indian government is an inefficient and inept being. This we all knew. But its Home Ministry, headed by the pompous P Chidambaram, has outdone itself yet again.
The Ministry has prepared and submitted a list of 50 most wanted terrorists in the country which it claimed were being shielded by Pakistan. As it turns out one of these most dreaded extremists Wazhul Kamar Khan, who was arrested last year for his alleged role in the 2003 Mulund train blasts, has been residing in Mumbai for the past several years, also making regular appearances in the court where the cases against him are being contested.
Khan'a name featured at number 41 in the list of 50 fugitives to Pakistan at the Home Secretary level talks in March. It seems that Home Secretary G K Pillai really needs his retirement and his boss too needs to brush up his skills at finding details. The Ministers in the UPA cabinet may be dreading the Home Minister, trying to be in his good books, but as far as the terrorists go it seems that the minister still has a lot to find out.

PS -- At least don't commit a blunder like Pakistan which hid Osama under its nose.

Rahul & farmers

The Congress Yuvraj is out to prove that someone listens to him at home. An allegation that was leveled against him by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati. The scion of our nation's first family took along a few farmers from Bhatta Parsaul area in Greater Noida to meet his kitchen cabinet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
As if we wanted to know that MMS really listened to Gandhiji. This is the biggest fraud being dealt to the nation's citizenry. Does the middle-aged know-it-all and wannabe Prime Minister want to replace Mahendra Singh Tikait just a day after his death.
It seems that the media too think that it is the most important issue at hand. If the Yuvraj really wants to see the real bad deeds committed in the name of land acquisition he should visit a tribal state like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The mainstream media doesn't even have a inch of column space for the atrocities committed on these second class citizens who reside in the C-grade states in our country.
The farmers in the NCR region are too well fed off the builders and the land mafia, which are controlled by the political class. The prince needs to amend his ways as he is also leading the same path which has been followed by this preceding family members. I do not want another Prime Minister (he is bound to claim the throne some day) that doesn't care for the majority of our people.

Petrol price hike

The Congress government has done it again. A proposed price hike on petroleum products is set to be implemented a day after it won Assembly polls in three important states. The party has shown its true colour.
It doesn't work for the aam aadmi. It works for itself. Its leaders. Who aren't ever satisfied with any amount of money that they can make.
They are out to screw the aam aadmi. Rahul Gandhi ji any comments please.
Or are you waiting for permission from Sonia Gandhi ji who will surely intervene and limit the Rs five hike to a mere Rs three per litre of petrol.

Rahul the pillon riding moron

Today's television pictures proved it....what we all knew for long. The middle aged youth leader of Congress doesn't have a brain to protect. Cause he rides pillon on the back of motorbikes on un-metalled roads of Uttar Pradesh, a state which his family has destroyed.
The yuvaraj of Congress rode into Bhatta Parsol village to seek the political mileage of the acquisition affected village. The same law that is now being opposed by his government was used by his several predecessors to ruin the nation's farmers. How things change....
One more thing....will the Uttar Pradesh police have the balls to book Rahul Gandhi who rode the motorbike for not wearing a helmet?

Tiwari the nymph

Na yeh purush hai na yeh naari hai..... yeh to Narayan Dutt Tiwari hai..... or so goes the old Congress slogan.

The octogenarian Congress leader who has been a legend amongst the common citizenry and classy political circles for his virility and libido has finally met his match. The Delhi High Court has finally ordered him to undergo a DNA test to resolve a long-pending paternity dispute law suit.
Tiwari, a person who has been known for his affinity for the opposite sex, will now be a bit agitated for his youthful indiscretions.
The days when the Congress leaders thought of this country as their personal fiefdom and its women as their personal property are long over. Lets hope that the suit filed by the Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be the biological son of Tiwari, gets to its logical conclusion.

Arunachal CM vanishes

In all the melee over the killing of Al Qaida chief Osama bin Laden the country seems to have all but forgotten the search and rescue mission for Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu. The government's commitment to the North-East, which often blames the country for forgetting it, couldn't be illustrated any better than this case.
The national commitment in the case of a similar accident that happened with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Reddy is a case in point. We have to respect the Chief Minister's of all our states equally and not weigh them by the amount of MPs their states send to the Lok Sabha or the money they contribute to party coffers.

India's Pakistan frustration

With Osama bin Laden resting in peace at the bottom of an ocean floor the Indian media seems hell bent on crying itself hoarse on the Pakistani involvement. He was killed in Pakistan... there is a definite complicity.
Ya. Right.
So. Why are we questioning the Pakistani government instead of raising the same questions to our Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. Shouldn't our anchors and mediamen put these uncomfortable questions to the Indian ministers, both Chidambaram and SM Krishna, on their strategy to target most wanted criminals who committed crimes in India and are now being harboured in Pakistan.
The Pakistani dispensation is not answerable to our media. Or does our media feel that they grown so big that they can put them in dock.
The only solution to address the issue is to put our ministers in the firing line of such uncomfortable facts and asking them for a time line to resolve such disputes.
If the US can do it why can't we? They are committed to their cause, why aren't we?

Will the real slim shady please stand up.....

The lyrics of the infamous song are a must for electronic medipersons in the country. They have all laid claim to the arrest of CWG badboy Suresh Kalmadi. The games, which have been labelled as Bhrashtmandal Games, have left just one person standing apart. No need to guess.
And every media organisation in the country is laying claim to his scalp. As if he would not have been caught if it weren't for their investigative skills. It seems that Superman lookalike and his brethren and sisters in the newsroom will now cry hoarse till the dawn of next day. Lets see how successful their investigations prove to be as far as securing a conviction against these leaders in concerned.

Only Times Now could do this

The Indian channel which seems to have the highest impact on this nation has done it again. Times Now, the channel which has the presence of a Clark Kent pretend journalist, has been airing the black and white photograph of Abdul Rauf, the alleged mastermind of IC-814 hijack, for the past couple of hours.
The channel claims that it is an exclusive, the first for an Indian channel and the works.....
However, it is also running a disclaimer with an asterix at the bottom of the screen. The disclaimer says that the channel does not vouch for the authenticity of the picture. While the photo and the exclusive sign are covering almost the entire TV screen the disclaimer is in small font on a black strip at the bottom... barely visible.
Then why the hell are they running the photograph? Do they think that the viewer is a moron or worse? Maybe Arnab Goswami could explain.........

Anna Hazare campaign

Anna Hazare campaign may soon be forgotten. With the IPL gathering steam the media and people in the country aren't likely to remember what has happened over the past few days. The media circus will forget the claims of revolution that were beamed by it to the houses of this country 24X7 for several days.
With Tendulkar, Dhoni and Sehwag vying for space this will be another forgotten revolution. Long live the revolution and the short term memory of our nation.

Barkha Dutt hooted out

It is understood that most pious of journalist's Barkha Dutt was hooted out when she tried to cover the recent Anna Hazare episode LIVE. Several students and youngsters asked her and the team from her esteemed channel to leave as they claimed that she was also a part of the system against which they were fighting.
Miss Dutt seems to have taken the point and left for the security of NDTV studio from where she continued to reign terror on us LIVE on this issue as well.
See the link below to check out the facts. The person is fearful of being victimised.... like a fellow blogger was a few years ago. Taking a panga with the queen of news is never easy.

Amul Baby

Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan has termed Rahul Gandhi an Amul Baby. I don't know what the cause for this nickname was....maybe as the kid promoting the butter with same name never grows old was the cause.
Whatever was the cause the veteran Communist leader has again shown why the middle aged young yuvaraaj of Congress isn't blessed with a political brain. The yuvaraj may take as many digs at the age of Kerala Chief Minister but he conveniently forgets the fact that his ally in the neighbouring state, which is also going to polls, is no better in the age department. Kalaingar, as he is affectionately know, should also be shown the same respect by the Congress Baba log.

PS- The Congress may employ as many tutors for its middle aged youth icon it will never be able to grow a political brain on him.

The Anna Hazare Show

The author has expressed some views that are really readable and worth pondering over. The critics of the author have heaped shit on him in the reactions to the article. However, I think that this is an interesting read. A perspective which needed to be explored.
This new editor and his magazine are doing what the journalists of this country have forgotten to do. To raise questions to everything and not just what the government wants them to ask. Keep up the good work.

Fake World Cup

This can only happen in India.
The ICC, the body which CONTROLS, cricket in the world has faked it. The Indian team, which won the cup on Saturday, has been reportedly given a fake cup and not the real deal. The report was broken by a tabloid in New Delhi.
Was Sharad Pawar behind it? One will never know.... But the modus operandi of his genius is all over.
How can a country be duped to such an extent. Is this a joke or what. The way Indian cricket fans are being taken for a ride needs to be stopped. They have been lathi-charged, not given the tickets they were due during the world cup, the media was kept on tenterhooks and now this.
It seems that the ICC and BCCI are taking the Indian cricket fan for granted. Time we united and taught these bodies a lesson by seeking a complete clarification and a head of someone to hang over the fireplace.

Cricket shit!

Why is our nation so unabashedly dying after this crappy game? Cricket is not a game that a country like ours should follow.
It is a colonial hangover..... from which we dread to get out. Our servile attitude is responsible for its popularity. Just because it was played by our colonial masters the game has gotten roots into our nation.
Let us face it. We are not good at playing cricket. And we doctor pitches at home to win matches. Just because our nation controls the largest cricket market the BCCI acts as if it controls the game..... rather own it.
There is no way we will have so much respect for our "NATIVE" games. Will there be so much hype in the media if there was a match between the same nations, India and Pakistan, of our national sport. Incidentally the hockey is the national sport of both nations..... but it has lost out somewhere.
The point here is that why can't we find self respect and pride in playing the games that our nation has invented and introduced to the world. Let us dominate is sports like Polo, Hockey and Chess. These are real games. And the world has embraced these games pushing our country to the brink in these. It is time to reclaim our lost pride. Not just these games alone but other games as well which have an international level competition.
It is time that we let go of this good for nothing game. We can not continue to try to dominate the game which is played by less than a dozen nations in the world.

Create room for the homeless

Here is a unique idea if we want to resolve the problem of homeless people in our country. I propose that the country bring in a law to make it mandatory for religious institutions to construct just one room for the homeless on their premises. The task is not big. With the amount of temples, mosques, guruwdaras, churches and other religious institutions in the country the problem of homeless will be resolved forever. I hope that political parties and social activists pick up thi idea and try to turn it into a reality. We often look the other way when we see homeless people on our streets. This idea could help create space for people who really need it. And it is time that religious intitutions are made to do what they preach. They have always claimed to have worked for the poverty stricken. Now make them work for it. Make a law for it. I need someone to take up this cause. It is 100 percent do-able and needs a backing of the political class.

Fake awards

The government continues to hold meaningless awards to please its sycophants. It is the same story at each of Padma awards ceremonies that are conducted annually. Even the preferences of the Kerala mafia are evident in the selection of candidates. Why are a majority of those selected to a particular state or a particular political dispensation. arn't such national awards supposed to be free of all political and regional tilt. It seems that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has also not been made aware of those selected for such awards. Just like in the 2G issue or the Padma awards ceremony held last year where a person with duboius background and a US citizenship was given our nation's top honour. Time to stop such sham.

Euthanasia debate

There has been an unending debate in the media regarding euthanasia. Every Tom, Dick and Harry has a view on the issue though they may not know even basics about the issue.
The Supreme Court may have decided to reject granting euthanasia rights, however, the need here is to debate the issue widely and check whether euthanasia was practiced and permitted in Indian culture.
In my opinion euthanasia was prevalent in the Indian society for several thousands of years. Our scriptures and legends also point towards it. And anyone needing a proof and head towards Hardwar and see with his own eyes innumerable god men who had taken a jal samadhi (Indian version of euthanasia) in the deep waters of the river Ganga. I witnessed it
There is also other versions prevalent in different religions of the country like Santhara in Jains. We need to debate these. If euthanasia isn't permitted then how is all this allowed to go on?
We can't have two sets of rules for the same crime.
It is time that we stop looking at laws from the eyes of our erstwhile masters.....which implies the British and Muslim rulers of India. We have to decide on these things as an independent country and come out of the mental and psychological slavery that we continue to this day. The thing that needs to examined is that is our society ready for this? Is our society mature enough? Adn how will we be able to stop its misuse if at all it is allowed?

Hasan Ali held?

Finally the investigative agencies have grown balls to detain and question one of the biggest tax defaulters Hasan Ali. He is believed to owe the Indian tax department Rs 40,000 crore in tax defaults. This amount is higher than the annual budget of two thirds of Indian state governments.
With this huge amount at his disposal, the person is believed to be funding or the front man for a big regional party and a bigger regional politician.....who once had an ambition of becoming the Prime Minister of this country.
The government's act may have come too little too late and after a dressing down by the Supreme Court as the money he is believed to have been holding may have been moved around to its "rightful owners". When will the government try to really come out and book criminals who try and steal the rightful money of this country's citizens. It doesn't seem to happen in the near future.

PS. While the government was busy trying to detain the alleged tax swindler a friend of mine is worried over a recent income tax department notice that has asked him to pay Rs 1500 as last year's remainder of taxes.

This once again goes on to show that in Indian justice system and government institutions act against small fry and let the big fish get away.

Should PM and HM resign

With the Supreme Court finally coming out with what all of us almost knew....regarding the tainted CVC PJ Thomas, will Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram resign? Doesn't seem so.
With the amount of thick skin that these politicians have they are likely to complete their term and give the nation a few more of these corrupt bureaucrats at the helm.
This is an embarrassment for the Government of India. How can someone, apart from the CVC of course, not lose his job over such a stupid appointment. It was a stupid appointment simply because the leader of opposition Sushama Swaraj had objected to it. Why did the government still go ahead and appoint Thomas? Was it under design or sheer stupidity? Or just because the government was intoxicated at being the GOVERNMENT...........
One way or the other. It is now time that someone asks MMS when does he plan to take a bit of onus on the misdeeds being heaped by this government on the common man.

Slow brained MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs is the slowest monolith that is part of the creature called the Government of India. While the governments across the world have organised the exit of their citizens from Libya in a swift and orderly fashion, the MEA seems to have woken up from its slumber rather late.
The MEA has once again proved inefficient in organising such a basic task. And that too when it happened on expected lines just weeks within similar stories in Tunisia and Egypt.
The Indian "main stream media" too seems to be towing the line of the MEA with not even a single report criticising the Jurassic era ministry, headed by someone from that age as well. The mediamen are afraid that their free junkets to foreign countries will stop if they as much as raise a finger against the powers that be in the MEA.
We have been unable to bring our citizens home, while other countries, including China (with which we often try to compare ourselves) have brought en back to their homes safely.
It is time that someone is made to pay for all this. Some heads have to roll and the country needs to know how the things were let to deteriorate so much.

IAS Melee

The only reason that the state government of Orissa and the Centre for that matter are intervening in the attempts to free district collector R V Krishna, a 2005 batch IAS officer, from Maoists rebels in Malkangiri is because he belongs to a species known as the IAS officer.
Had been a single small time official or some tribals or policemen will the government deal with the case in such a way.
No. It won't.
There are different parameters for even being a person in this country. And an IAS officer stands at the top along with his political teammates. The Orissa or Odisha (whatever you like) government and the Central government have bent over backwards to accommodate the demand of some bandits in a forested area that is being dominated by them for lack of the courage in our political establishment to take them on. They are apparently giving into all 14 demands made by the Naxalites. that's the might of the Indian state for you.
The same amount of zeal was also shown by our mighty government when the daughter of our Home Minister was abducted couple of decades ago. Was she really abducted? Only the persons freed will know the details or the one confined by the alleged separatists.

Reliance BP deal

Will the government check one of the biggest deals in the history of corporate India. The country needs to check the credentials of BP which has recently been involved in a tiff with the US government after a oil spill in its off shore rig.
The country needs to be protected by any company and it should be made clear that our environment is also as vulnerable and valuable as that of the US. The government needs to keep a tight leash on this deal and only clear it if all the environmental clearances are complied with.

Arnab lashed

The Clark Kent of Indian broadcasting industry got a tongue lashing in the Supreme Court today. The know it all and moral high ground keeper of the most watched "your channel" was taken to task by senior lawyers to complained about Arnab Goswami's antics on air.
They are also believed to have sought the help of the Indian version of Superman to teach them how to argue cases in the Supreme Court. Or for that matter in a lower court if he had ever visited one.
Seems that finally someone at the apex court has started to take note of the weird and absurd comments being made by the channel head. Why doesn't someone just ask him to come visit the courts.

India's Italian connection

The author has been able to depict the connection between India and Italy effectively. The BJP may cry itself hoarse on the connection. Raja arrested

Finally the government has acted and arrested the tainted former telecom minister A Raja. But there is still a long way to go.
This arrest has only set to rest that he had prima facie done something wrong. But wasn't he a part of the union cabinet? Shouldn't the cabinet and its chief Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also be punished for overlooking such a scamster?
These are question s that have to be answered. It will not help it the Congress doesn't fix responsibility. The country needs answers and the government needs to explain all issues.

Rajesh Talwar attacked

This is pathetic.
Firstly, our police machinery lets down the Talwar family by letting their daughter get killed. Secondly, the investigating agencies completely botch up the probe. With UP Police and CBI being equally responsible. And all the accused in the case have either been acquitted or secured bail for want of evidence.
But how can the state allow the Talwar family be treated so shabbily. Please think of the father who has lost his child. Is he an accused? Why is he being treated so shabbily? Why doesn't the CBI have the balls to name him directly?
Please stop such incidents. Rajesh Talwar and his family deserve some peace. This is no way that a family should bear after their only child has been murdered. Prosecute the murderers and stop extra judicial attempts at justice. This is no way that India can allow its democracy to function.

Tricolour hoisting in Srinagar

How the hell can the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah even think that he can stop an Indian citizen from hoisting the national flag in Srinagar. The BJP might be trying to foment trouble but this is no way to deal with the situation.
Can't he come and talk to the people and find an alternative arrangement. It is time that our elected representatives tried to solve a few problems rather than making a further mess out of them.

PS: By the way the BJP is playing the game that Congress started with its Hindu terror shit. So the two parties are now openly wooing for the votes that they desire.

Is the Manmohan Singh government the most corrupt to have ever ruled the country? Despite being an economist why has the Prime Minister been unable to rein in the high prices?

It seems that TV Channel Times New has now decided to sell onions. Their news pit, as they have renamed the newsroom, which is headed by none other than Clark Kent wannabe Arnab Goswami was busy all day trying to bring down onion prices.
However, the onion prices their too kept on fluctuating from Rs 10 per kg to Rs 25 per kg. It will be better that Mr Goswami get his act together and ask his pit hounds to fix an apt rate.....

Sibal speak

If the new Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal really feels that there hasn't been a scam in the 2G allocation issue why doesn't he recommend the closure of CBI inquiry into the issue. He should also ask for disbanding of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India as according to him the agency has done a wrong audit of the accounts submitted to it.
Instead of digging old corpses from NDA time, he should concentrate on his own government. If the claims of Sibal are to be believed the UPA government should immediately restore A Raja as the Telecom Minister as he has not done anything wrong and there was never a scam in 2G allocation. All this haggling over the issue was a farce and the government should take back the DMK minister and allow him to proceed further on the issue. Manmohan Singh has lost his locus standi in keeping Raja out of the cabinet. And these aren't the facts stated by me but his able newly appointed minister who wants to be in charge of everything but has been able to do nothing.

Maybe it has finally dawned on Dr Roy to do something to regain the lost credibility. It was already time.
The confirmation to this affect is likely soon. It this is true this means that the two top journalists who were implicated in the Radia tapes leaks have finally been cut to size.
I sincerely hope that the news establishments are able to keep a leash on high and mighty editors who continue with their wheeling and dealings.

Bofors scare again

New year hasn't come with a cheerful news for the beleaguered Congress. The party is set to get embroiled in its worst nightmare again. The Bofors scare is again set to rock the party. It is the same gun which caused the longest period of power starvation for the hungry party. Hope that the gun still works.
