Hamara Bajaj gaya. One of the greatest symbols of a license-permit raj regime during the better part of our post-independence existence has finally been bid adieu. The scooter, on which almost the entire present middle class has learnt driving, has finally rolled into history as the company has decided to stop its production.
Bajaj scooters may throw up a lot of nostalgic memories for several people but the truth is that it was a symbol of how strictly this coountry was controlled by the regimes who held swey in this land. I am glad that it is over and now we have moved to an era where the consumer is king and not the industrialist and politician nexus who keep a tight leash on the production lines.
