Brother MPs
Letting go of a position isn't easy. And for Indian politicians it has often been said that they never want to retire. Some former members of Parliament devise ingenious ways to keep the tag.
The brotherly love between Sajjan Kumar, the former Congress MP from Outer Delhi, and Ramesh Kumar, who won from South Delhi, became publicly evident this week. Ramesh Kumar was made the official Congress candidate after the party denied ticket to Sajjan Kumar when his name cropped up again in the anti-Sikh riots case just ahead of Lok Sabha polls.
However, Sajjan Kumar chose the occasion of his annual New Year's luncheon meet to unofficially declare that though his brother may have been elected an MP he was the one who still mattered.
The official invitation cards mentioned the name of the ex-MP in front of his brother's name. The invitation went out from Sajjan Kumar-Ramesh Kumar.
