Union Home Secretary Gopal Krishna Pillai on Friday stated that the Maoist objective was to overthrow the Indian state by 2050 (didn't the intelligence agencies working under the home secretary wake him up to this fact earlier).
While speaking at the Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis in New Delhi, he even claimed that Maoist forces may be currently receiving help from ex-Armymen.
He stated that analysis of Naxal attacks had revealed detailed and precise planning. (what does he mean by this that they are planning more than his intelligence outfits and security forces?)
"Right now, they were looking to regroup and build their own army towards their plans." And, Mr Pillai said, they were using administrative vacuum and underdevelopment to do this. (Duh. Wasn't this all known for far too long....they could seek my help if they need better info than this. Anyone who has lived in that part of the world or has studied extremist close at hand.) God save this country if we have such people at the helm of affairs. And by the way what is an IAS officer doing at the head of a security set up of the country. Shouldn't an officer who has dealt with such issues through his life be appointed to this position?
